The Bird Southern Table and Bar: Run chicken run!

The newest addition to Marina Bay Sands' collection of signature restaurants is none other than The Bird Southern Table and Bar. The Bird is a dedication to farm-fresh ingredients, classic Southern cooking, culture and hospitality.

After trying sample dishes of The Bird's signature chicken and waffles at the 2016 Epicurean market, I was very excited for them to set up their restaurant in MBS. However, after trying it in their restaurant, I was disappointed with the slightly dry pieces of chicken served to me.

The other dishes I tried includes the Deviled Eggs ($14), Fried Green Tomato BLT ($18), Butter Lettuce & Grilled Mango Salad ($18), Macaroni & Cheese ($14), Burnt Ends ($22), Low Country Laksa ($38).

All of these dishes are quite delicious. The Fried Green Tomato BLT was a great combination of slight sweet and sour of the green tomato with the saltiness of the smoked pork belly. The Macaroni and cheese was extraordinary with a delicious creamy and cheesy sauce. The low country laksa incorporated some singaporean flavours with the laksa and the soft red snapper on a bed of fluffy coconut flavoured rice.

All in all, The Bird Southern Table and Bar has some nice dishes however I'm quite disappointed that their signature chicken dish is not up to expectations. I recommend the fried green tomato BLT, butter lettuce & grilled mango salad, macaroni and cheese and peach lemonade to wash all of that down.

With an open kitchen concept, we saw Restaurateur John Kunkel supervising the restaurant's operations, ensuring food quality and interacting with customers. With a friendly and humble attitude, I can see The Bird improving along the way.

All in all, I would recommend you to try The Bird Southern Table and Bar!
